You would notice, all the posting are published today.
In matter of fact I could nor retrive the actual date of the article.
It was publish ranging from March 2007 till date.
However, you could read the comment made and retrive the actual date of the article at the site http://www.classmonitor.wordpress.com but it will remain domain and inactive.

Further, the name Berita Dari Kawan is more appropriate and enviromental friendly.

Happy Reading and Selamat Berpuasa.

Class Monitor

Salam Muhibbah.....Boys Where Are You......

This is the first entree on this blog.

It is meant as a tool to communicate,to retrack,to retrieve to keep in tact, the bondage built over the years which has been built since the class of 1971-1976 at the Malacca High School.

The ideas sprang up in mist of time to accomodate the 200th.yrs of MHS anniversery this year. Some of us left as early as 1976 to persuits life best intrest. Some of us was in MHS or ABC hostel or at home since stepping into the shore of MHS.

Some of us never leave Malacca since the day he was born or some of us are thousand miles away from home to quest the venture of life since leaving MHS in 1976.

Over the collectable years,we quest,we strive,we persuit,we strike at whats life has rewarded us accordingly to our bright stars. Some are brighter than others, some shines over the clouded moon, some shines over 'moon-river' and some doesn't shines at all despite all the ambitious plan one have in mind.

It is a blog not to shown our true colors and the reward that we have attain over the years.

It is merely a one stop centre for all ex-Malacca High School guys,to ponder,to interreact and to retrives the golden memories and friendship we build upon since leaving the ground of Malacca High School after Malaysian Certificate of Education(MCE) in 1976.Be it either Arts or Science stream.Be it, either you got a 1st.,2nd,3rd, or 4th.grade.

We begin to understand grading does not limits our social compartment but is merely a tool to help us achieved what we desire in life.

Lets us used what ever balance we had in life sharing our thoughts together via this humble blog to develop a string of social bondage among us.Thanking the teachers whom had taught us while we we still in our dippers trying to understand why

x + y = xy got to do with living and how to live?

the blog adminstration could be contacted at :

Any contribution articles or past photos of is much appreciated.

Lets persuit the balance of life given to us sharing our thought leading the path to our late comers as a useful reference point.

BerKorban Apa Saja

Pertemuan - Prof.Ajmal

Sweet Communion(Written on the occasion of a gathering of High School
students, MHSMCE`76 December 1, 2001)

Today like yesterday I saw in a haze
The edgeless furrows left by the past.
They are the remains of a different age-
Sometimes appearing within wispy grasps,
Sometimes amidst nebulous horizons
That fade between sky and sea.

There are those who see fractious yesterday,
As fragments of unfettered memories-
They fail to see such moments
Present an eternity-
To tutored minds that fleet by time-
Memories are malingering fingers
That coax to the fore sunken thoughts.

Memories are sometimes tumults
That shake the heart with violent emotions,
Or buoy it with a measured, insouciant rhythm.
They are reminders that chime a tune
That is both sad and pleasing all at once.

But those who fear Nostalgia are like birds
Spooked by sounds as inconsequential as rustling
leaves.
And those who care less have forgotten
The sweetness of Communion.

Yesterday holds a myriad of images
For those who care to remember.
Today, my friends, shed the cloaks you have donned
Through ages,
And return to who you were,
As we knew you,
In memory and salutation of Friendship.

A Short Thesis

Could you believe some student do have some imaginary factor when writing essays. He must be tripping on LSD while writing the paper.
Go a head.Its a good laugh too.

Civil War Hero - Written by a Lunatic Student somewhere in New York.

During the Civil War many people influenced because of being such great Heroes. Well only one of these people actually did something. This was a man amongst men it is just a shame that he was killed.

Jesus was probably the main factor why the Divil war was fought the way it was. Not only was Jesus super cool he was really smart. Jesus was born in 1923 about the time of the roaring 20’s (or when you were born Btw did you go to school with him.) Si anyways everyone knew Jesus was something great. When he turned three he mastered the pogo stick everyone knows how hard that damn thing is. Shortly after ge was bored with it so he bought a bike. One day he was out on this nice bike he just spent a lot of money on and some black guy stole it out from underneath him. He ran after him for hours screaming, “nigga stole my bike!” no one did anything at all. This is when he knew it was time for a change. He quickly learned that black people don’t steal scooters. So he asked Marty Melfy could bring him one from the past because those things died along with president Clinton. He got his scooter and rode it from Springfield New York all the way to Olympia Washington, that’s like 5 billion miles that’s e lot even for an airplane. Once he got there he came ip with a plan, this plan seemed crazy, it was called the non-violent protest. He sat around for days until someone just told him he could have the government. He decided that black peoeple needed to stop stealing bikes. Because of this the Civil War broke out. The Civil war was between China and Pakistan. The people fought for about fifty years the war finally ended in 2020 . But only because China was like Jesus we are out of ammo, Jesus simply replied “What do I have to work with?” he only had a banana, 15 seconds later he developed the atom bomb and dropped it on Pakistan and killed a lot of people. The people thought Jesus was moding so they quit and joined a new server. Once the war was over Jesus was hit by a car, and with his last breath he said “warship me!” and died.

As you can see without Jesus the world would be a terrible place. All over the world black people would be stealing your bike. So without him, we all would be helpless.

Teacher response:

There are clear issues with the paper. As one cal tell you seemed to have taken this as a joke. Along with numerous grammatical and structural errors, you failed to prove anything with the presented information. With that I will need to speak with you and arrange a new paper topic.

Zaman Persekolahan (1962-1973)

Bagi Putra-Putra MHS yang menuntut disekitar tahun-tahun akhir 60’an dan awal 70’an nama School Captain Abd.Rahim Abd.Aziz (PUTRA MHS 1967-73)
memang tidak asing lagi.

Keserlahan bakatnya dalam kepimpinan dan jati diri dipupok dari rumah oleh ayahanda beliau,Allahyarham Cikgu Abd.Aziz Mahadi, salah seorang guru Bahasa Melayu yang bertugas di Sekolah Menengah Gajah Berang disekitar tahun-tahun 60’an hinggalah ia kembali ke rahmatullah disekitar tahun 1980’an.

Pencapaian academic beliau amat terserlah dengan mendapat Grade I didalam peperiksaan Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) pada tahun 1972.

Dilantik menjadi pengawas sekolah sewaktu beliau ditingkatan 4.
Bak kata perpatah Cina,’the first giant steps towards life acheviement begins with a single step”.

Remembering Micheal Landon -Little House on Prairie

hmmmmm......good tv slot is difficult to get by these days.
The black and white tv era is gone.
Come now the Tritron era.I am noT mourning over the rapid change of technology, but somehow, value slot is difficult to get by these days.Gone withe the 'right'social message in the slot either locally produce or those from the known tv producers ie the states or UK.

I will be glued to the black and white TV set at home every Sat at 8 for Micheal Landon 'Little House on Prairie'.Sort of our 'FELDA Version'.Early pioneers in resettlement after the 'Great Civil War'.
The early beginning of a modern state. The brave families venture to A new world looking for a better future.Giving moral education to their loves one at home without having a a subject on 'Pendidikan Moral'added to their dairly school subject.
Well mannered, admired even the father is jUST a poor farmer.

I thought they were my models those days.
Next 'The Waltons -John Boy' who wanna be a journalist and the main character is my extra added to the cart.
Whose to blame the producer or the tv giants for poor tv slot. However i do enjoy 'CSI' and 'Ugly Betty' thou.

Ingat Tak? ingat......ingat-ingat.........ingatkan!

Yippy,ingat tak?....ingat-ingat....tak berapa ingat, ingat-ingat
mana boleh ingat....dah lama sangat
How long was it?
macam semalam rasanya.

Me queing for the ticket at Rex,mak...dato.....punyanya long que together with the Purple Baju kurong girls.
Full House for the 10 times when I was there.
The book, I read it twice.including 'Jeremy'.
Didn't know what love really means in 1974 but only hits me when I am a bit older.
Menggelupor beb.Well... I continue and pick up from Mat Bangkai.
He's pro.

Well..........we were boys then !

It is indeed a long and winding road.
Thousands and thousands of nautical miles.
Who could forget the 'JukeBox' at Snow White Cafe,or for the 'Ponteng Kaki'
at the Joe's Shop ,the one at Jln.Bandar Hilir near bus stop near CHIJ or the Juke Box at Bunga Raya Ice Cream parlor with the mouth watering'Ice-Cream Jelly'
Who could forget the Cendol of Hj.Mydin opposite the Clock Tower.
Who could forget ABC stall open till late nite the 'mee rebus'
Nasi Lemak Bukit Cina in the morning by Ishak Mazuki brother.
Nasi Lemak Md.Shah aka John Bulat.
Mee Goreng Kakak junction of Jln.Bukit Cina and Jln.Durian Daun.
Hot and lots and lots of extra taugeh.
Now,my daughters wanted is 'extra cheese with my pizza pleased......'
alamak mana ada Pizza Hut,Kenturky or Mc'D.

All we had on some extra special day ie.pay package day on the Federal minor of the$25 was Coke Float and a packet of 'Eve',for those whom are smoking.
Me I am 555 guy.10 cent each but 15 cents for 2.

Somehow I do not fall to the category of 'half past six guy no?for not buying B&H or Mr.Dun.Its jes'being penny wise but pound foolish.

Words of Wisdom

'...Until the story been told by the tiger, the glory of hunting will always belong to the Hunter'

-African Proverb-

Thus, which one are we?....the tiger or the hunter?
Me remind of me the film 'DEER HUNTER'

Uji Minda ANDA...............

Who do you admire most?
Is it this man?

Al.Fatiha Allahyarham Dato Usman Awang (Tongkat Warrant)

WE ARE THE HUMBLE SERVANT OF ALLAH

Some Wise Advise.

Tempat : Mesjid Jamek Paya Ikan,Melaka

'Cikgu, dia menangguk.Kami bersalam.Cikgu mengajar dimana sekarang tanya saya.
Saya dah pencen...Perbualan kami agak simple tapi mesra.

Benar kata-kata hikmah beliau.
Sehingga kini kata-kata tersebut disematkan dihati sanubari.

Beliau ialah guru kita

Allahyarham Cikgu Hj.Masda Wongso.Al Fatiha

Remembering Prefect Paul Kwong

Paul Kwong was 2 years my senior if I'm not mistaken, same batch with Prefect Philips Tan and Prefect Dr Aminnuddin Ahmad.A Lord Minto if I'm not mistaken.
Active in Cadet and swimming.
The happy smiling prefect.
All the time with a genuine smiling face and with a good hearted laugh.
He was in BHES,same as I do.Remember him was quite plum.
What we boys used to tease each other fatty boom-boom.
Never once find any fault in me.
Yeap..... me the 'Dennis the Manace' type.
Pretty handsome guy when he was young,no wonder he was selected to be in the TLDM Cadet Officer programme and serve the nation with pride.
I am not sure of his senior ranking in TLDM but I remember in 1976 while I was in Form 5 he came to school with all white the standard OfficerS official dress as in Richard Gere film 'An Officer and A Gentleman'.

Way back in 1981 if I am not mistaken,I bounce into him at Kelvin Road,Highbury N1where I live next to his campus,The Polytechnic of North London Law Faculty.
The diffrence in most English Universities and Polytechnic then, but now been up graded to University the site were then decentralised. Thus, one find the building site ziz-zagging between faculties and I find it cumbersome to travel.
Campus are not big but the distance to cycle if it is summer and walking in winter will definately turns one easily cold and tired. But during term and in between terms my pocket is full of Mars Bars Choc.Especialy during the middle of the months.Eating choccolate makes me alert and healty coz' its made of milk.

Well...back to the story board..I approach Paul and introduce myself to him and he remembers. That about it, we never meet up again till 1990 if I'm not mistaken.I meet him again at Jalan Raja Chulan front of AMBANK HQ, he was doing his pupilage than in KL.A bright young up coming lawyer, I suppose at that particular time.
Catching the glimps of the utube slot well Paul sir,we do am old now but I am sure there is some sprits of togetherness since our roots is MELAKA and dammed proud to be "A HIGH SCHOOL BOY".

Dalam mengimbau sejarah MHS diera kita iaitu ditahun2 pertengahan

(Buat Rakan Taulan Semua)

Terasa Sejuk dijiwa ini
bila mendengar takbir mu
lalu aku sahut dalam senyum sinis..
kau yang haq
menggigil aku mencari pengertian mu
merantau kami untuk mengenal mu
berlapar kami diajar oleh mu
terdengkur kami mengenang mu
bersyhadu kami teringat kalam mu
tersungkur kami mengenang dosa terdahulu
bertabur kami memberi kerana mu

Tanpa kau aku ....mati
Tanpa aku pasti sangsi

Aku lari.. mencari
aku nari.. menyerah diri
aku tantang penoh kemanjaan
aku lindungi saban semalaman
supaya mengenal hanya yang hakiki
supaya tubuh mu ini akur

The Danger of Blogging

The Dangers of Blogging

I don't use my blog as a space to rant about things I can't handle in real life, or to attack, retaliate or hit out at someone I know personally with whom I can't do so in person. I believe if you can't face up to reality, don't create an alternate reality just so you can be boss in your little corner of cyberspace.
What prompted me to write this now? Simply, I witnessed a couple of people who used their blogs as an extension to an argument they had otherwise relinquished in real life. In reality, they said they had spoken their piece and was done with it. In the blogosphere, it seems they aren't actually done with it yet. Too often people use blogs to make themselves out to be the victims in an argument. Last month, there was a similar incident where, again, the person went on her blog and ranted about how she had been wronged. Like I said, if you can't face up to reality, don't use an alternate one to validate youself. It's dangerous to live in an unreal environment and think that the response you get in that space is somehow valid. Your readers and commentors don't know you personally; the only side of you they see is what they read on your blog. Some commentors can be dangerous too. "Oh, don't worry, I've never met you but you feel like an old friend to me, and I know you're not that kind of person." I think ignorant comments like this do not help the delusioned blogger. If you've never met the person, then you've never met that person. Don't think that you know them just by their online persona, because nine out of ten times, people's online personae are the complete opposite of who they really are. It's also dangerous because things become one-sided and no one really knows the truth except to rely on the blogger's version of it. And what's worse is when some bloggers decide to name the people they're ranting against. Then you're involving a person's reputation and if your story is half-true or fictitious (as most of these rants are anyway), you could be held accountable for defamation. My rule in blogging is simple. If I can't handle it in real life, then I don't blog about it. What's the point? What good would it really do? Isn't it akin to talking to myself? If I have a problem with someone, I duke it out person to person, face to face. I admit, I've tried out a bitching space before, but I got tired of it because my problems didn't really go away, and nothing felt like it had any closure. And then there are those who confuse being outspoken with being rude and obnoxious. Hell no, they're not one and the same. Bitching is not being outspoken. It's just angry, pointless and unconstructive ranting. Unless, of course, it's not personal and/or to parody an issue or something

Poppies (Bunga Poppy)

From blood, from pus that rots in the soil,
from skeletons that have lost their lives,
snatched by weapons,
the result of war maniacs who kill love,
the red flowers bloom beautifully, requesting to be adored.

Those who live on are remnants of life, full of sufferings,
wizened, bent, deformed, maimed and blind,
war in retrospect is full of horrors;
they remember now, in bitterness, in solitude.

Others lost children, husbands and sweethearts,
lost their sources of support, their livelihood,
they live in starvation,
thousands widowed, thousands disappointed,
thousands tormented;
millions of orphans live on, and beg.

The war maniacs have killed all love!
war raged and found profit in colonial lands!
war raged and killed babies in their cradles!
war raged, and destroyed cultural values

Poppies are the flowers of fallen soldiers,
flowers drenched red with blood, full of horrors,
we hate war, full of killing!
we cry for a never-ending peace!

Ke Makam Bonda

Kami mengunjungi pusara bonda,
Sunyi pagi disinari suria,
Wangi berseri puspa kemboja,
Menyambut kami mewakili bonda.

Tegak kami di makam sepi,
Lalang-lalang tinggi berdiri,
Dua nisan terkapar mati,
Hanya papan dimakan bumi.

Dalalm kenangan kami melihat,
Mesra kasih bonda menatap,
Sedang lena dalam rahap,
Dua tangan kaku berdakap.

Bibir bonda bersih lesu,
Pernah dulu mengucupi dahiku,
Kini kurasakan kasihnya lagi,
Meski jauh dibatasi bumi.

Nisan batu kami tegakkan,
Tiada lagi lalang memanjang,
Ada doa kami pohonkan,
Air mawar kami siramkan.

Senyum kemboja menghantar kami,
Meninggalkan makam sepi sendiri,
Damailah bonda dalam pengabdian,
Insan kerdil mengadap Tuhan.

Begitulah bakti kami berikan,
Tiada sama bonda melahirkan,
Kasih bonda tiada sempadan,
Kemuncak murni kemuliaan insan.

Belasungkawan Untuk Mohd Yusof Sulaiman

Setiausaha Agung (Ekonomi) Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB).

We celebrate, yes we celebrate the Merdeka Day with all the pomp-pomp.Normally,in Malacca during our schooling days the morning with all the marching Band at the old used to be 'Padang Palawan' but now its 'Padang Jutawan.'

Pengsan beb...panas terik with the heavy boot if you are a Cadet Corp but to some boys thats the day to know some MGHS chicks with their purple baju kurong.

Now,this is how my dear friend KM Mohd Yackob shows and spent his own money to shows the real meaning of partiotism,by painting his family home roof top at Kg.Morten with the 'Jalor Gemilang' and The Melaka flag.

Show some respect boys to this budding sailor of mind.5 time round the world and all the mix varities spicies of Allah he has meet. That the way to go KM,down to earth and humble guy.12 years a sailor with MISC and now back home with family and kids.

Was with him this afternoon showing his master craft.

Grand Cifu Tun Tan Cheng Lock

He was our alma,an old wiseman of the nation and the dad to our former late Finance Minister late Tun Tan Siew Sin both old boys of Malacca High School.A colorful life.

In honoring the grand old cifu, our Istana Budaya presented a musical play of his colorful contribution to the nation, come on boys.....a little bit of culture will do us good.Fill the auditorium with all MHS alumi. What I hear the attendees on all Istana Budaya events is in a sad state. The gate collection does not cover the actors wages and any event held is heavely subsidies by the kementerian Warisan.
So do the Petronas Philhamonic Orkestra, the state of art of PETRONAS auditorium is an adventure by it self.
We don't have to be a Dato' or Tan Sri to appreciate culture beb!
Be a spot.See you there.

Well..............take a Break...

I wonder what Yazid Alias doing now?

TIPS FOR ORGANISING A SUCCESSFUL CLASS/FORM REUNION

The webmaster Mr.TW Kang sent an email pertaining to the subject matter.
Thank you sir, for the assistant and willing to share with us your experience.I find it informative thus we could learn from it.It comes handy.

By TW Kang

To organise a successful and memorable Class/Form Reunion for your Class/Form takes sweat, time, commitment and sacrifices. You also need to be diplomatic, persistent and sometimes aggressive in order to get your old schoolmates committed to the forthcoming event.

With each of us pursuing our careers, dreams or bringing up our families, you will be surprised how fast time has gone past since you and your classmates/form mates left the School. This was the place where you all used to study, play, fight and bond together.

However, all the effort and sacrifices made in organising the event, will be rewarded when you meet and catch up with your long lost friends whom you have not met for the past 20, 30 or 40 years.

How to get Started

1.Organising such a daunting event can be difficult at the beginning BUT if certain actions/tips are taken in advance at least 1 year ahead before the event, the event can be organised successfully. Getting a core group or Pro-tem organising committee at the beginning is important as they have to set a date for the Reunion at least one year ahead.

2.This is important as advance notice of the Reunion must be given to old friends residing overseas via email so that they can plan ahead, should they want to attend the Reunion with their spouses/children. If not, too short a notice will negate their plans for attending the Once-a-lifetime Reunion.

3.Old Class Photos can be handy
A tool I find useful in locating old friends is to have a copy of the Class photos of different classes. Nominate a person of each class to seek out their classmates and obtain their email addresses or handphone numbers. A person conversant in Excel should be appointed to collate and update all the names, email addresses, contact telephone numbers and place them into the correct Classes. At the beginning, the list will be short but rest assured, as the time of the event nears, the list will grow with time.

4.Notifying the Event
Using the growing list of names and addresses, notices can be sent out via email or via SMS firstly to inform of the forthcoming Reunion and to confirm their attendences or not. By getting their confirmation or rejection will help your committee to plan for the number of expected participants, work out the costs involved and later book the venue and beverages for the Reunion.

5.Draw up a simple but comprehensive Programme
As the event nears, the Pro-tem committee can draw up supplementary itinararies before leading to the main Reunion event. Some classmates may want to visit their Alma mater, or some may want to have a game of Golf. Some of the spouses may want to enjoy themselves by going to a Spa or some long lost friends who reside overseas, may want to tour around the city before the Reunion. Small gatherings can be organised for various groups in order to satisfy their needs.

During the Event

For the main event proper, a few important things must be undertaken namely:-

1.Do have a jovial Master of Ceremony for the Reunion. Hire one if necessary so that all of you can enjoy and catch up with your classmates. A good MC can ensure the Reunion go on smoothly during the night as everyone will be busy talking to old friends and tend not to follow any set schedules, if any.

2.Hire a competent photographer or video photographer so that the historic event can be recorded in print or in digital format. These digital photos or video captures the event and can be presented to those who have attended the function later via compact discs.

3.Food and drinks are important but it is not necessary to order too much as most friends want to catch up with one another. Eating and drinking are secondary activities.

4.If old teachers or principals are invited, honour them by asking them to speak a few words to all those present for the night. They will feel honoured if given, to say a few words.

5.Getting a simple Welcome Banner stating the venue and date made and strung across the entrance, can make your friends feel good as they have come a long way to attend the event.

Moreover, a Group Photograph can be taken under the banner to mark
the historic occasion before the Reunion comes to an end.

6.You will be surprised how time flies and very soon, all your classmates will say “Adieu” and “Be seeing you Again in the next Reunion” before the night is out.

LETS DO IT BOYS.

Thanks Bangka-I,for the motion of Patriotism.
In principle I agreed with the line written.
Well said, after all one man poison is other mans meat.
However, I find another puzzling gig-saw puzzle to be sort out by the Gen-X.
It is really mind boggling situation.Read it and question ourself, are we giving it away?

My concerned is purely acedemic.
More inputs of local brain to fight the cause is needed now and near future.
Berkat pertabalan Sri Paduka Baginda Sultan Mizan, lets say,
'each and every square inche of this Peninsular is protected, care for and cultivated'.

In the mean time Gen-X, 'LEARN FROM HISTORY'

70s Icons for Hostel Dwellers

While we are on the subject of hostel life - notwithstanding that I stayed at a differest hostel altogether - I'd like to share a few memories with all of you.

Remember perennial Adidas Stan Smith? What about that pair of hardy Lee Chetopa Twill? And those wonderful Fruit of the Loom T-shirts that came in a few hundred colours? Remember these icons of the 70s? I suspect you do, even though we can't find these these in the local shopping mall anymore. Isn't this a shame?

OK, I'll admit that we will no longer look as good in Chetopa Twills and Fruit of the LoomT-shirt like we once did (frankly, they were never designed to fit anyone with a 42-inch waistline), I still miss them. I guess their nostalgic value far outweighs their aesthetic contribution to our present physique; for me, at least.

But looking back, these things weren't cheap, were they? I remember my first pair of Stan Smiths set me back a whopping RM60! And at RM80, my first Chetopa Twill broke my grandma's bank account. And these were 1976 prices! Unless I am badly mistaken, a clerk at Malaysian Airlines only earned RM175 a month back then. Do the maths, babe!

Now, some 30 years later, even with a reasonble job, all I can afford is the occasional RM10 shirt from the reject bin of FOS. And for the first time (this is maybe 30 years too late), it occurs to me, how did our parents afford to give us all those things?

Maybe they dealt drugs and did bank jobs when we weren't looking...

On being patriotic

I am flattered that I have been invited to contribute to this blog. But don't know why I was invited in the first place: I have never been elected to the position of class monitor - ever! It's a personality thing - any position of responsibility just doesn't mesh well with my personality (or so they say). So, for better or for worse, here I am.

Since the last post was on the subject of patriotism, I guess that is where I'll pick up from.

I'm stumped (even before I've started). So what's new? Anyway, I guess most people will take patriotism to be loyalty one's country. But my question is, at what point in time does one become a patriot? Do you qualify as a patriot if you are someone who feels discomfort at the prospect of misplacing (and subsequently losing) your identity card? Or must you be willing to die a horrible death a the the end of an enemy soldiers' bayonet before you can call yourself one?

My point is, we may all think of ourselves as patriots. But does that qualify us one? I hardly think so. In the same breath, I am also of the opinion that we must not be automatically disqualified just because we don't sing patriotic songs in the shower every morning. Somewhere, there is a line that must be crossed before we can call ourselves a patriot. Just where that line is drawn, is beyond me.

But that raises another question: Does it matter whether or not we have the right to call ourselves patriots? After all, I am sure Hitler and Pol Pot (or T. Blair, or even G. Bush for that matter) saw themselves as patriots. Look at what happened in those cases.

So, where do I stand? As long as I don't feel a need to apologise to any non-Malaysian for my being partial to 'durian' and 'belacan', I guess I'll consider myself a patriot. Not that it matters...

How Patrotic Are We

Habul Al Watan Min Al'Iman.

The love for a nation is part of iman.We were groom from an early age, instilled the discipline via Brass Band,Scouting or in the Cadet Gerak Khas. There was no such programe of National Service then.
The yearly training at camp Sungai Udang was much look forward by all boys. Its a life oppunities to hold a M16,learning to clean up an SLR,pistol, playing with the communication gadgets.
The annual 2 weeks camp was an adventure of a life time for the boys to experience the life of an army camp.To some it was the beginning of an ambition to be selected to the Royal Militery College only with impressive LCE result.A few of my batch did,Sdr.Rosli Md.Tan,Dato'Lt.Commander Badrulzaman Kamarulzaman of TLDM,the twins,Dr.Razak and Dr.Rani,Sdr.Jamil Md.Noor,an avid sportsman.
Me,however was not selected to either of them coz'selection for the annual camp at Sungai Udang were based on platoon.Only one platoon were selected and not mine. How frusrated. As for RMC,I did struggle trying to get a place but nothing near it.

How ever my Mak Teh sponsor me to the Out Bound School in Lumut for a month learning how to survive in pressing time while waiting for my MCE 76 result. It sure do taught me how to survive and taught us the of quality of leadership, team sprite and team work.
Thanks Mak Teh.'Budi mu dikenang'.

I might not be in the uniform but I do hold up to this beloved country. There a link on my seminar paper on such issues delivered IN IIU,Gombak.

Its call,Penal Code 121 - A Restropective Effect and Enforcement on Chin Peng And Malayan Communist Party Members.

Enjoy reading it and question ourself are we patrotic in the true sense of the word?

Local Boys v Sabah Boys

Thanks 'The Hostel Boys' for the old photos.
I could recognised some of my senior.Srd.Idris Jamalludin for one the Discovery Nite 74' champion with the song 'Dunia Ku',Annuar Md.Nor,Allahyarham Srd.NorAzahari(Captain),Allahyarham Srd.Annuar Johari,Srd.Razak Hitam,Srd.Yazid Kassim,Srd.Halim Yackob,Srd.Norazam Yusof,Srd.Rosman Ibrahim,Srd.Nordin Ahmad.Sanny my junior, etc.

Yes,its a mixed brunch.I was at MHS hostel for only a year during my form 3.Form 3 was acrucial year.LCE examination year.Ayah was worried about my acedemic performance thus he dragged me to be in High School Hostel for that year.Form 1-2,I was at ABC.I was at home in year 4th and 5th.

Yes,ABC Hostel, some prejudism against the ABC Hostelite.
Some suggested that it was a Gangster Hostel for boys.
No,it is not true at all.Abang Abd.Halim Abd.Rahman, top Malacca and MHS student 1972 was an alumi of ABC ,so do our Dr.Baba, the famous mercy volunteer whom made the head line for being shot at the buttok in Kabul.
Its a mix hostel from boys all around Malacca and from various Malacca School. We blend together well.
However, you would find the ego trip among MHS guys against other school such GBS,SDHS,ACS,SFI ect.
Yes, in sports we were definately rivals particularly with SFI in hockey, rugger with SDHS.
Those guys come from far away as Machap Umbu and as determine and as able as any other MHS guys. This prejudism arise from lack of understanding among our own back yard.
Some hails from Jasin,Mesjid Tanah or Linggi or as further as my buddy Mong ie.Hamdan Hassan,Wan Shah and Nuraddin Wahab did fromBukit Senggeh,Selandar.
Srd.Hamdan Hassan.
(Has anyone knows where he is or have met him or his hp.number pleased contact Class Monitor pleased)
Thus, this social stigma are stick among us.
To some,it remain in us until today.
We were just ordinary boys hoping to achieve the best what the town could offered to us coz'
that was the first time we stayed and began to learn the town lingo.

Some of the boys whom stayed at MHS hostel during Form 1 has to move out to ABC to make room for the Sabah Boys.
Yes,I remember some Panggabion a/l Dusuggun from Kelait or Sandakan bah!
They were rich.
The Yayasan Sabah provides them with lot of cash.
We were penniless, meleleh air lior, almost every day those Sabah Boys bersantap satay at the hostel.Wak satay will be there sharp at 3 pm.

Some hot head lion, like Srd.Amran Latiff hails from Ramuan Cina Kecil,Lubok Cina will definately gives them a fling any moment even though fight does not occurs but the jelousy and aggrovation arise due to the extra material they had from their sponsor.
Best radio with player with cassette and being the pet of Cikgu Mat Sekeping off course!

That was the reason for the aggrovation, some boy just got to leave for ABC to make way for the Sabah boys.Moving to ABC means having to walk to and from for 1km.to school. While the MHS hostlite was having their lunch right after school,we were on our way either walking or cycling in the hot sun .Worst, upon arriving, the menu would be Nasi and Kari Ikan Jaws.
That is the reason why I could not recall 1/2 of the guys coz the other 1/2 is Sabahans.
